We organise our sessions so that children can choose from, and work at, a range of activities. In doing so, they build up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion.
The children are helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities, which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.
Outdoor activities contribute to children's health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them. We are very lucky to have a newly refurbished garden that we try to make use of every day! All children have the opportunity, and are encouraged, to take part in outdoor child-chosen and adult-led activities, as well as those provided in the indoor playrooms.
General activities include painting, stories, singing, drawing, water and sand play, dramatic play, musical instruments, natural and malleable materials, construction toys, mark making, pre-reading games, such as lotto and snap and pre-maths games, such as dominoes and puzzles.
We also introduce ITC to our children through our iPads, laptops and audio books.
Children’s gross motor skills are exercised through our climbing frame, movement to music, parachute games and regular PE sessions.
We work on a theme for each half term, broken down for each week of the term.
